RtW or Rapid Fire?
[rapid fire] or [read the wind]
PvE DPS build - do not argue based on interrupts, please.

I always use RTW on my turret ranger. Rapid Fire's benefit can easily be replaced with Lightning Reflexes or Flail - especially Flail since it can essentially be kept up for free the entire battle - which gives you a decent prep on top of it.
If you want a hard res or something, then maybe I'd consider Rapid Fire.
Edit: alright, I missed the builds you were deciding between in my post. I don't use a pet much but now that Never Rampage Alone is 15e I might try out the second one on my own.

Exactly what I was going to say.
You then could put in [triple shot], [asuran scan], and [I am the strongest] and you have some very potent damage output in pve.

Read the Wind, because you could access an IAS through other means and it gives you additional damage.

EotN is terrible and I plan to never acquire those skills.

Because it's PvE and skills really don't matter and I just want to change it up a tad.

lol...ur such a difficult ranger (not jus this thread lol)
if ur being so picky, perhaps u should try out both and find out on ur own
as been said...rtw is better because it does +dmg and u can get an ias in other forms
as well for general pve...it allows u to use flatbow as ur main bow which shoots faster
and monster ai generally r incapable of kiting
i really cant see any point of rapid fire unless they increase the duration of the prep
(spend more time attacking...less time prepping)

Agreed. RTW cause of Arrow speed and extra damage

Unless there's something else to fill up your 'stance-spot' I'd use Read the Wind over Rapid Fire

fyi, if you're using anything but a flatbow while RtW is up you're using the wrong bow. RtW doesnt make your arrows move twice as fast, it sets their speed to about twice that of a recurve bow, regardless of what bow class you're wielding. this means with flatbow+RtW you're getting the flatbow's superior range and refire rate with the same arch as any other bow+RtW.
on topic, read the wind>>>>>rapid fire

You`re all forgetting Expert Focus , attacks do +10 damage and cost 2 less energy, with Experts Dexterity , Scan and By Urals Hammer its a lethal kill set up. As Lyy doesn`t wan`t the eotn skils, he could then drop in fave winds with Kindle or Burning

Expert focus is bad cause it calculates before expertise calculates
so a 10 energy attack with 9 expertise will be like 5 energy instead of 6

It's not 'bad', damage is the same as for Read the Wind and it will result in a 1 or 2 points of energy saved per attack skill where read the wind has the faster arrows.

+arrow speed cannot be easily replicated ([[favorable winds] doesn't count). IAS can be gotten from numerous sources. Therefor you must go [[read the wind].
